Bodies of Navy officers killed in Saturday crash handed over to relatives

MARGAO: The bodies of the two Navy lieutenants Rudra Gosain, 29, and Arun Vir Singh, 26, who were killed in a self-accident in Nuvem on Saturday were handed over to their families after the post-mortem at South Goa District Hospital, Margao.

The accident occurred when the car, driven by Aryan Prasher, 28, crashed into a cement block on the side of the Western Bypass in Nuvem. The two young officers were killed on the spot while the driver, Aryan, sustained injuries and was taken to Goa Medical College. The three had driven to Goa from Karwar the previous day and were returning to their Navy base when the crash occurred.

The police have registered an offence against Aryan Prasher under Sections 279, 337 and 304A of the IPC.

Locals who gathered at the site believe that Aryan Prasher either fell asleep at the wheel or lost control of the car while speeding, leading to the crash.
