VASCO: The election to Bogmalo Chicolna Deputy Sarpanch’s post had to be postponed at the last minute on Wednesday after the panchayat Secretary wrote to the Block Development Officer (BDO) that a panch member had tested positive for COVID.

Panchayat sources informed that the election to the Deputy Sarpanch’s post will be held only after panch recovers and tests negative.
It may be recalled that Arun Naik resigned as the Deputy Sarpanch recently.
Sources informed that following Naik’s resignation, the BDO had sent an order to hold election on September 9 which had to be postponed.
The panchayat comprises of seven panchas. The fresh election date would be announced soon.
