In a daring burglary, unknown culprits broke into an apartment of a businessman at Davorlim last night and decamped with cash and gold ornaments, all worth over Rs 6.5 lakh.

MARGAO: In a daring burglary, unknown culprits broke into an apartment of a businessman at Davorlim last night and decamped with cash and gold ornaments, all worth over Rs 6.5 lakh. 

The incident occurred when family members of Virendra Kote had gone to his footwear shop at Gandhi market on Tuesday evening. “We had gone to the shop with our children. After returning at around 11 pm we found the house ransacked and valuables stolen,” Veena Virendra Kote told Herald.

The family found the main door open when they returned home and their worst fears came true when they found to their shock the cupboards and bedrooms ransacked by the miscreants for the booty.

She said the miscreants had managed to lift away cash of Rs three lakh, besides gold ornaments valued over Rs three lakh. Incidentally, the family owns a German Shepherd, but the family had tied the dog before heading to the market.

A police sniffer dog which was requisitioned by the Maina-Curtorim police could not provide any clues to the ongoing investigations.
