Bus falls off bridge,11 killed

At least eleven people, including two women, were killed and several injured seriously when a minibus carrying thirty passengers fell off a bridge on to the rail lines near Howrah station, police said.
The toll is likely to increase as many of the injured were rushed to the nearby Eastern Railway hospital, official sources said.
The bus, on the Nazirgunj Howrah route, fell off the Bankim bridge after hitting the railings on the railway line which was fifty feet below and in the process collapsing the live overhead wires of the Eastern Railway.
Eastern Railway CPRO Samir Goswami said train services were affected and all overhead lines between platform numbers 10 to 23 had been switched off.
