MARGAO: Law Minister Nilesh Cabral along with State Registrar Ashutosh Apte inspected the Sub-Registrar’s office at Matanhy Saldanha Administrative Complex, Margao.
During his visit, the minister witnessed the people queuing up for their documents and said there should be no queues at all. He sought time to come out with practical solutions to the problems in the office.
He said three contract workers, whose contracts expired yesterday will be reappointed immediately after completing all the formalities urgently.
Cabral said the Information Technology Department will be asked to provide people who will be taken as additional staff in the department.
He identified some areas which were lying unused and informed that a designer will visit the office soon to redesign the premises so that the same is utilised properly.
He admitted that digitisation of the records will be a blessing and in six months time a major change will be witnessed in the office functioning.
He gave his mobile phone number to some citizens who raised some issues with him.
He asked them to send him a SMS stating the problem.
