MAPUSA: Former sarpanch Joseph Sequeira on Saturday alleged that Calangute has turned into drug destination with “blessings” of local MLA Michael Lobo, PI Nolasco Raposo and the panchayat.
“Calangute is a tourist destination but it has now turned into drug destination and without the support of the local MLA, police and panchayat, the drug trade cannot happen”, Sequeira alleged.

“F Ahmed, the accused arrested by ED, was working for hotel, which is owned by husband of a panch. That driver was not staying in the hotel, but his parcels use to arrive at the hotel address. The NCB and Crime Branch should immediately arrest and question Villa Lobo because he is main culprit in this drug trade”, Sequeira charged.
“The panch member’s worker is found involved in drugs. The owner is a drug supplier and all this has direct link to Michael Lobo who is the kingpin of the drug mafia,” he alleged.
Sequeira claimed that with support of PI Nolasco Raposo, the panch and her husband have become kingpin of drugs and prostitution in Calangute.
He further alleged that in the second raid Tony Fernandes, who is arrested by Crime Branch, resides behind the house other panch member and charged that this panch may have backed him. Some panch members are involved in this drug trade and illegalities with Lobo’s guidance.
“Day and night parties are going on in Calangute for which I blame the beat police as they have to be vigilant on such illegalities,” Sequeira said.
“Till this government is in power nothing will happen and no action will be taken because it is not bothered,” Sequira added.
“Calangute has become drug trafficking hub where foreigners move around freely and locals are being questioned. The police never stop these foreign nationals. In a club’s lane after 6 pm, Nigerians come out and here the beat police are the ones who first take commission. PI Nolasco Raposo is the most corrupt police officer and I have already written a letter to higher authorities namely DIG, DGP and CM informing them about his illegalities”, Sequeira alleged.
