CALANGUTE: The Calangute police team that went to Gadag in Karnataka to bring back the two accused in the murder of a Calangute hotel owner, returned with them on Wednesday.
Both the accused, namely, Umesh Rathod alias Lamani and Dayashankar, were placed under arrest after they were brought to Calangute police station.
Later, both accused were produced before a Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), at Mapusa, who remanded the duo in police custody for eight days.
Meanwhile, police have conducted forensic examination of the accused and are recording the statements of the witnesses. PI Jivba Dalvi is investigating.
Further, an autopsy was conducted on the body of the victim, which certified that the death was due to haemorrhage and shock caused by stab injuries. Later, the body was handed over to the family for final rites.
