PSI, constable suspended

PANJIM: The police department has suspended a police sub inspector and a constable and is contemplating a disciplinary inquiry against them, after they were caught accepting  bribe from a Valpoi local. 
Deputy Inspector General of Police Rajesh Kumar issued the order on Wednesday. “A disciplinary proceeding against PSI Anand Narvekar of Valpoi police station and PC Sachin Naik of Bicholim police station is contemplated. It is further ordered that during the period the order shall remain in force, the headquarters of the PSI and PC shall be District Police Reserve Lines, North, Porvorim and they shall not leave the suspension headquarters without obtaining prior permission of the DIGP,” the order states. 
Anti-Corruption Branch had a week ago caught the two accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a person who reportedly has a case of domestic violence registered against him. The complainant was asked to pay Rs 30,000 to dilute the case registered against him at Valpoi Police Station. It was settled at Rs 10,000 and the complainant approached the ACB after which a trap was laid near Goa Medical College. They were placed under arrest.
