Calangute police crackdown on touts

In an effort to curb tourist harassment, Calangute police on Sunday detained 13 touts and illegal agents operating in the area. Two others were booked under Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code for obstructing the public during the crackdown.

Police said the action was part of their ongoing initiative to make Calangute safer for visitors. “Our goal is to ensure every tourist leaves Calangute with pleasant memories, free from the nuisance of illegal activities. With New Year celebrations approaching, we have intensified our efforts to prevent any incidents that could disrupt the festivities,” the police added.
