MARGAO: Saying the government should not only go after the small fry, UGDP leader Radharao Gracias has said the government stop the intimidation and harassment of Goan bureaucrats and instead arrest the builder in connection with the Canacona building collapse case.
He demanded that the government immediately arrest the builder and make him return the money to the investors if it claims to be the dispensation working for the common man.
“I have been in the forefront of accusing the bureaucrats of being corrupt and dishonest. But, in the Canacona building collapse case, I have found that small Goan bureaucrats are being sacrificed. Canacona deputy Collector, Prashant Shirodkar is one of the bureaucrat who has been honest. He is now inside the jail because he had signed the occupancy certificate prepared by the technical section”, he said.
The UGDP leader pointed out that the actual builder, who made huge money on the building through investments from the purchasers, is being left scot free. “It’s surprising that the builder has still not been arrested. He has filed a civil suit in the high court, but he is available to the police,” he said, while demanding to know why the police cannot get hold of the big fish.
Demanding an immediate stop the intimidation and harassment of Goan bureaucrats, he said no purpose will be served by keeping the officials inside other than making the government happy.
