District Collector, South G P Naik has wondered how the Deputy Director of Panchayats, South could direct the Rumdamol Panchayat to initiate action against the Shri Swami Samarth Temple when the temple structure is one of the many religious structures already identified by the government as per the Supreme Court order.
“This temple figures in the list of structures which were identified by the authorities as per the Supreme Court order. The fate of these structures is pending before the Cabinet, but before the government could come out with a policy decision, the deputy director of panchayats has directed the Rumdamol Panchayat to initiate action against the temple structure”, Naik said.
The district collector, however, exuded confidence that a solution would be found to the problem at the earliest. It is learnt that the district collector spoke to the deputy director of panchayats as per the chief minister’s directions.
