PANAJI: Active monsoon conditions continued to lash Goa, with Canacona recording the highest rainfall in the state over a 24-hour period ending at 8:30 am on June 23, according to data released by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Goa Centre.
Canacona received a massive 192 mm of rainfall, taking its cumulative seasonal total since June 1 to 660.2 mm, the highest recorded in the state so far this monsoon season.

Several other areas also witnessed heavy rainfall. Mapusa recorded 131.2 mm, followed by Quepem with 130 mm and Sanguem with 120.2 mm. Margao received 111.5 mm of rain, while Pernem recorded 90.2 mm during the same period.
The IMD classified the rainfall activity across Goa as “widespread,” indicating that most parts of the state experienced significant precipitation. Monsoon activity was officially described as “active.”

The heavy rainfall has led to waterlogging in low-lying areas, disruption of traffic in some locations and reports of uprooted trees and power outages across parts of the state.
