PONDA: A woman from Marcel has complained to Ponda police that her 2-year-old child was given milk mixed with tobacco like substance at a child care centre in Ponda.
Based on her complaint, police have registered an FIR against the child care centre Manager Gauri Kamat and an employee under Children’s Act.
In her complainant, the woman said that tobacco like substance might have been mixed with milk to put the children to sleep, so that, the employees could take rest instead of taking care of the children.
She stated that she had noticed the tobacco like substance in the milk bottle given to her child when she was cleaning the bottle on September 17.
Meanwhile, police sources confirmed that the sample of that substance has been sent for testing at Food and Drug Administration lab and awaiting the report.
“We are investigating the matter; and questioned the lady manager of the child care centre. But have not arrested anyone yet as the preliminary investigation is still on,” an officer said.
