MARGAO: A resolution to stop mega projects in the village was taken by the villagers of Carmona at the gram sabha meeting held on Sunday, Feb 24.
The gram sabha member Soccoro Miranda moved resolution demanding that electricity bills be given every month which was passed unanimously by the members present. Sarpanch Lavita Dias was asked to take up the matter with the electricity authorities as the present system burdens the locals. Miranda demanded that sarpanch convene meeting of villagers with officials from gas-company to discuss the problems faced by the locals. Sarpanch informed that meeting if convened could not be held on Sunday or holiday as gas company officials would not be available and after discussion it was decided to hold the same on a Saturday.
The panchayat secretary ready the proposed budget for year 2013-14 and after discussion the gram sabha members suggested to increase amount earmarked for sports and same was approved. Members also expressed apprehensions over migrant residing in village and asked the panchayat body to maintain record of those residing in rented rooms.
SERAULIM: The Gram Sabha of Village Panchayat of Seraulim on Sunday resolved to stop all Commercial Housing projects till all the infrastructure such as roads, water and electricity is in place.
At he meeting, it was to stop constructions of new project in the village for want of adequate infrastructure. Members also demanded that that the panchayat conduct a site inspection of a housing project as they claimed that illegal bore wells were dug up at the site and labourers putting up around in unhygienic conditions.
The gram sabha demanded construction of a new flyover near the railway crossing.
