PONDA: Deepashree Sawant, the arrested queen-pin in the cash-for-jobs scam, ran a smooth and elaborate network with a range of middlemen and operatives, who fanned out in search of victims who would be ready to pay lakhs for elusive government jobs. The scam she operated, was so well-crafted that applicants underwent pre-job medical check-ups, documents were forged, and fake stamps with directors’ names were issued.

These startling revelations have come to light from the police investigations and from the documents that were given to the press by the legal counsel of Sandeep Parab.
Parab has lodged a police complaint against Deepashree, but is thought to have worked as one of the operatives as well.
The scale of the scam came to light after Sandeep’s police complaint, which listed 44 individuals who reportedly paid significant amounts to Deepashree with the hope of securing employment. It is reported that a total of nearly Rs 4 crore has been collected by Deepashree through her series of agents, and Sandeep is reported to be one of them.
According to the details of Parab’s complaint, some of those who have paid up had even undergone medical examinations as part of the government job recruitment process. Allegations have been levelled against Deepashree for providing forged documents to Parab, who acted as a mediator, to create a shortlist of candidates for document verification.
Some individuals on the list reportedly have documents with fake rubber stamps of various department directors, adding a new layer of complexity to the investigation.

A detailed police complaint ironically made by one of the players in the cash for jobs game has opened up the deep tentacles of the job scam and exposed the anatomy of the rot.
People managed to spend multiple lakhs for jobs in various government departments. And these arr the people who would get two decades or more of salaries, and a lifetime of pensions with taxpayers money.

In the same complaint, the list of sums given to mediator Sandeep Parab through Amit Nagvekar form Kavlem-Ponda includes Shubham Nagvekar (Draftsman, Survey Department- Rs 6 lakh), Jay Verlekar (Junior Engineer, Survey Department – Rs 10 lakh), Prathamesh Ramnathkar (LDC, Forest Department – Rs 5 lakh), Gauri Pednekar (Teacher, Education Department – Rs 6 lakh), Richa Bicholkar (Technical Assistant, PWD – Rs 10 lakh) and Dipesh Sawal (Technical Assistant, PWD – Rs 10 lakh).
