A cautious CWC Member Luizinho Faleiro left his supporters and well wishers guessing on his return to local politics, as Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, Home Minister Ravi Naik, ministers and a host of political leaders and supporters thronged his residence to wish him on his birthday on Thursday.
Luchel Caminho de Monte – the Borda residence of the former chief minister – came alive on Thursday as political leaders and supporters trickled since morning on the occasion of his birthday.
Water Resources Minister, Filipe Neri Rodrigues also joined the chief minister and home minister and the foursome were huddled together in a room for quite some time.
After attracting flak from his detractors over his remarks a fortnight ago that he would not mind returning to local politics if Sonia advises him to do so, Faleiro today sounded cautious on the sensitive issue.
When newsmen pointed out to him that there were many people from Navelim, who came to wish him on his birthday, Faleiro said “why only Navelim, people from across the State are here. As much as they love me, I love them.”
“Relationships are not built overnight, they are built over a long time. And, I cherish this fond and close relationship with the people,” Faleiro said, when asked to explain the presence of people to wish him on his birthday.
He said though he is presently in Delhi most of the time, he has fond memories of the people and added that his roots are firmly in Goa.
“As a CWC member, I am working at the national level. I am very happy to work under Congress President Sonia Gandhi. It has given me a unique opportunity to work for the party at the national level and to work as in-charge of the North Eastern States. It has given me a totally new experience,” Faleiro said.
