PANJIM: Even as the PWD blames the sewerage work for the state of the roads in the capital, the CCP has blamed the BSNL for destroying them.
The pathetic state of Panjim roads has made driving and especially riding bordering on the ludicrous with vehicles having to navigate and avoid protruding stones, mud strips, potholes, broken tar chunks and even long and deep pits in various parts of the city. The greatest danger is when there is heavy rains the depressions are filled with water, and it is difficult to gauge the depth of the potholes in the road. Due to the heavy rains, people bring more four wheelers into the city leading to heavy traffic congestion and parking woes just about everywhere. Motorists discover newer parking areas including the one in the middle of the road in front of the SBI ATM at the head office.
“The BSNL is responsible for ripping the city apart,” Mayor Surendra Furtado told media. He also said that he had personally inspected the roads outside Vishal Mega Mart to assess the situation.
