Centre Appoints Vir Vikram Yadav as New DGCA Chief in Major Bureaucratic Reshuffle

In a major bureaucratic reshuffle by the Centre, senior IAS officer Vir Vikram Yadav has been appointed as the new chief of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Yadav, a 1996-batch officer of the Odisha cadre, replaces Faiz Ahmed Kidwai, who has now been posted as Additional Secretary in the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).

Prior to this appointment, Yadav was serving as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. Kidwai, a Madhya Pradesh cadre officer of the same batch, had taken charge as DGCA chief in January last year.

The reshuffle saw 25 senior bureaucrats being appointed across various central government departments at the Additional Secretary level. Among other key changes, Puneet Kansal has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation, while Vishal Gagan will serve as Secretary of the Central Information Commission.

Gyanendra D Tripathi has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Department of Agricultural Research and Education and Secretary of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research.

Several other officers, including Sridhar Chiruvolu, Ansuman Pattanaik, and Diwakar Nath Misra, have also been given new roles. The reshuffle covers key ministries such as Home Affairs, Finance, Agriculture, and Power, reflecting a broad administrative restructuring.
