She held the post from January 13, 2015, to January 27, 2016, when she submitted her resignation to the Directorate of Panchayats.
While the panchas say that she resigned as part of a mutual understanding between the panchas, sources have claimed that Rodrigues resigned due to lack of majority in the panchayat.
“Recently, a meeting to elect the deputy sarpanch was held, and Kamla Prasad was elected by six members in the 11-member panchayat. The results proved that the ruling body lacks a majority, and thus, the sarpanch may face a no-confidence motion at anytime,” said a panch on condition of anonymity.
Meanwhile, it is expected that either Prajyoti Kundalkar or Nilima Avdoot Naik will become the next sarpanch.
Whoever gets elected will also have her name on the plaque of new the panchayat building, which is in its final stages and is expected to be inaugurated soon.
