Patil was arrested by the ACB led by SP Busset Silva, while accepting the bribe that he had sought to compromise an accident case which occurred few days back between four two-wheelers at Curchorem.
According to ACB, the complainant Mukesh Gaonkar from Mapa-Panchwadi informed that Patil was demanding Rs 15,000 from the owner of a two-wheeler failing which Patil threatened to register a case against him.
The person from whom Patil demanded bribe was a relative of the complainant Gaonkar; and incidentally, the case already compromised earlier between both the owners of the vehicles.
The owner approached his relative Gaonkar and narrated him the incident, following which he lodged a complaint with the ACB.
On Tuesday late evening, owner called Patil near the Primary Health Centre, Curchorem to pay him part payment of Rs 5000.
Later, after conducting panchanama, ACB arrested Patil under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act and obtained 5 days of remand by producing him in the court.
