BICHOLIM: Chorao Village Panchayat at Sunday gram sabha unanimous passed a resolution not to allow heavy vehicles to be ferried along the Chorao-Ribandar ferry route.
Sarpanch Shamba Kalangutkar chaired the sabha. When question of Chorao-Ribandar ferry came for discussion, the villagers brought to the notice of gram sabha that there has been rise in ferrying of heavy vehicles along the route which may result in fatality. The villagers therefore resolved not to allow ferrying of heavy vehicles in this ferry in order to avoid danger.
Other issues discussed included a total solution for the problem of stray cattle in the village, solution over the compound constructed by communidad near the pedestrians way, not allowing the use of plastic bags, to throw open the old and traditional Saude-Chorao ground for people which is closed for public from last many months and to make village committees active.
On the occasion, minutes of last gram sabha were approved and approval for administrative estimate for the year 2018-19 was given. Budget for the year 2019-20 was also presented.
