The Chicalim slope located along the highway leading from Cortalim to Vasco is the main entry point to the Port Town. The steep slope happens to be accident prone. Recently a scooterist was seriously injured when he was hit by bus. Several minor accidents have taken place at this spot.
It may be recalled that the culvert along the highway was recently rebuilt and the road was broadened. However, in the absence of a road-divider the vehicles are seen jumping the lane while overtaking. There is an internal road leading to the main road along which traffic enters the highway. However, in the absence of a traffic island there seems to be utter confusion during rush-hour as vehicles try to enter the internal road as seen in the photograph.
The authorities need to put up a road-divider and a traffic island in order to streamline the flow of traffic on this busy road.
