For quite long, this menace has become rampant in the jurisdiction of Adpai in Ponda. The bovines are seen squatted at the entrance of the local village panchayat during late evening and night. Similarly, the same are noticed adjacent to the Goa State Co-operative Bank Ltd (also at Adpai). At ‘Dessai-Bhat’ area too, cattle proceed along the road with great ease. Pillion riders face great risk and danger in the bargain.

It is the need of the hour for the village panchayat of Adpai-Durbhat to initiate prompt favourable steps to eliminate this unwanted menace. Till date no suitable action has come to the forefront.

The local MLA Sudin Dhavalikar needs to take a note of this sensitive problem and instruct the VP to initiate necessary steps to deal with this menace.

The Directorate of Panchayats should issue fresh circular to village panchayats that have not yet built cattle pounds at their respective jurisdiction in order to accommodate the impounded cattle. Panchayats that have remained silent spectators in this serious matter should not be spared any more but taken to task without any discrimination. Public at large must be assured safety at all costs.
