Encroachment on Benaulim beach by shacks is rampant. As it is, sand erosion by wave action during the monsoon has reduced the width of the beach and makes it hardly usable for beachgoers. Now, shacks and beachfront establishments are blatantly putting up fences and taking in part of the beach for their private businesses.
Earlier, this was observed on Mobor and its adjoining beaches but now it is rampant at Benaulim beach too.

Earlier, illegal deck beds and dining tables were put on the sand by shacks but now this blatant usurping of the beachfront is a cause for extreme worry. Will the village panchayat/law enforcement authorities put in their might to end this?
