The Goa Passport Office, Panjim, is sheer efficiency of our Indian Government. It was once a much-criticized institution, so it gives me immense pleasure to say that our Goa Passport Office procedure is more proficient than ever before and modernized. The processes are streamlined and work well. I would rate this as triple ‘A’ service for a Goa government office. At the helm of it all is none other than our very own Goan, Civil Service Officer Agnelo Fernandes as the Passport Officer. Kudos to Agnelo for the prompt and smooth functioning of the passport office. We always crib about our government agencies, but how about this for a breath of fresh air? Apparently, you just have to have all your documents in order and originals for verification to make the passport office work easier. If you don’t keep your documents in order and yell at the people there, it won’t help your cause. You have to do your part right before expecting them to help you out. Also, they deal with large crowds daily; I have seen this myself. But if each one waits for their number to be called at every stage, which is short and sweet, then things move smoothly. There’s no way to jump the line or use influence to get your work done. No bribes to push your papers or do anything illegal. It’s all computerized and fair to all. You don’t wait too much, and even if you do, the wait is pleasant. The affable and supportive Agnelo Fernandes has been a very accessible and extremely cordial and cooperative Passport Officer, who is always ready to help all. He knows his job very well as he can settle an issue without wasting people’s time. I am highly impressed by his working. The passport officials are courteous despite dealing with all kinds of people every day. The speed of delivering the passport to my residence amazed me the most. Can you believe that I received my passport through speed post in less than 24 hours after submitting my papers to the passport office? The efficiency of our passport office and India Post has amazed me, and these two institutions have really earned my trust for once. Finally, before you exit, someone even asks you to rate the service. It’s almost as good as an airline. This is very much required as automatically the officials are alert and give a better performance and output. This brings about transparency in the process as well the system, and also promotes accountability. I have seen how other Goa government offices work. You ask for a birth certificate and they ask you to come after a week. For that matter, any document you need, you have to wait for around 7 to 15 days. I hope these Goa departments are also streamlined and made accountable. Hoping all our government departments work in the same manner as the Passport Office and if they work likewise, Goa will be Numero Uno!
Goa passport office better than ever
