Initiative needed to repair damaged Altinho Way of the Cross

A vigilant and concerned resident of Alto Guimaraes while on a walk in the morning of November 13, noticed that the structure depicting the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ was damaged, probably due to reversing of a truck without any deliberate intention.

He sent me a photograph of the damaged structure. It has been brought to the attention of the Church authorities about the said damage.

As shown in the photograph, due to the impact the top portion of the structure has become shifted at an angle away from the pedestal.

I hope that the residents of Panjim will come forward with necessary support for the restoration of this structure, which is a most important and symbolic depiction of the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

Even if it means crowd funding by residents of Panjim or from elsewhere in Goa, the restoration of this structure can be done so as to maintain its historic significance.

These Ways of the Cross structures starting at the Portuguese Consulate upto the Bishop’s House are now existing since much before Liberation.
