MARGAO: Goynche Niz Mogi on Monday said that Environment Minister, Alina Saldanha, should resign as Environment Minister if she fails to clear the slum at Zuari Nagar in her constituency. It also demanded constitution of committees to deal with issues vis-a-vis RP 2021.
Addressing media persons on Monday, Goynche Niz Mogi President James Fernandes said that either Alina should take up beautification of the Zuari Nagar slum or quit office. “Her first task after taking charge as Environment Minister was to dismantle, clear and beautify the dirtiest blot on Goa, Zuari Nagar slums. She should as environment Minister completely demolish and evict every unlawful occupant on the Comunidade land at Zuari Nagar and initiate penal action against the guilty,” he demanded.
He said Alina should resign with honour and maintain her respect and credibility in the eyes of Goans because there will not be a single self-respecting Goan who would accept the filth created by the occupants of the Zuari Nagar area.
He suspected a conspiracy between interested parties, including the government and politicians, who wish to regularise the thousands of illegal structures on unlawful land by implementing the RP-21 and remaining silent on the sale deeds, land sold to invincible persons.
James said the government should constitute a committee before regularisation of all sale deeds and implementation of RP-21.
