PONDA: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has sought time from sugarcane farmers to find solutions to their problems.
At a meeting the chief minister had with a delegation of sugarcane farmers at his office, he sought time till February 20 to come out with some solution to all their problems.
The delegation included Farmers’ Association President Rajendra Desai, member Harshad Prabhudesai and others.
The meeting was also attended by Co-operatives Minister Govind Gaude, Registrar of Co-operative Societies and the Administrator of Sanjivani Sugar Factory.
Disclosing the contents of the discussion that they had with the chief minister, Prabudesai said that farmers had informed Sawant that the government should begin the next crushing season at Sanjivani Sugar Factory; if it can’t then, it should find alternative solution.
Prabudesai further said that after hearing their problems, the chief minister said that he wanted some time to study on their issue. “The CM has assured to meet us once again to find solution to our problems before February 20,” he said.
Prabudesai said that 900 sugarcane farmers depend for livelihood on Sanjivani Sugar Factory and so they should also get their bill payment on time. “We have been paid our bills up to December, but January bills towards supply of sugarcane to Karnataka factory is still pending,” he said.
