CUNCOLIM: A steel worker of Global Ispat Steel Factory succumbed to burn injuries while undergoing treatment in a hospital, on Thursday night.
Cuncolim police said that last week, six workers suffered burn injuries after molten steel spilled over them at the factory. The injured workers were admitted to a hospital; and two were sent home after treatment. The victim Azim Khan (20) and three others were in the hospital undergoing treatment. But Khan succumbed to his injuries on Thursday.
Khan is a native of Uttar Pradesh and was residing at Cuncolim Industrial Estate.
Cuncolim police have registered an offence against the Managing Director of the company and Project Manager Ramesh Kumar Gupta under Sections 304(A), 337 and 338 of IPC.
It is learnt that this is not the first time that molten steel spilled over workers in steel plants operating at Cuncolim Industrial Estate. In the past, many workers had lost their lives due to lack of safety and protection.
