MARGAO: In a letter to Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, Opposition MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco has informed him about the irregular or no payments to several beneficiaries of Griha Aadhar and DSSS Schemes.
Reginaldo said several women and senior citizens, who are beneficiaries of Griha Aadhar and Dayanand Social Security Scheme (DSSS) from Curtorim Constituency and the rest of Goa, have contacted him, complaining of irregular or no payments from these important schemes for the past five months.
“It is given to understand that the payment of Rs 1,500 of Griha Aadhar Scheme to women beneficiaries and Rs 2,000 of DSSS was stopped between February 2020 and April 2020 respectively. It is only in this month of July 2020 that beneficiaries of Griha Aadhar have received payments of the previous one or two instalments,” the MLA said.
“Similarly the recipients of DSSS have received the payment of instalment for only the month of April 2020 and no payment has been paid for the remaining months. There has been no mention to the beneficiaries of both the schemes when all the remaining backlog instalments will be paid,” he added.
Reginaldo requested that the payments be immediately released with all backlog payments done to all the beneficiaries of Griha Aadhar and DSSS.
“These beneficiaries are dependent on this amount for their household expenses and also for purchasing medicines. Please let our social security schemes not become victims of cost cutting measures employed by our State government while fighting COVID-19,” he urged.
