Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has announced plans to establish 168 libraries across village panchayats and municipalities in Goa, with 20 libraries already operational as part of the initiative to promote reading at the grassroots level.
Sawant said local self-governing bodies have been encouraged to take the lead in developing and maintaining libraries in their respective areas, with the aim of fostering a strong reading culture among residents.
He also announced that an e-library initiative, supported through grants from the Central government, will be rolled out across the state. The digital project is expected to improve access to books and educational resources by making them available online.
The initiative is intended to expand learning opportunities and ensure that both physical and digital library services reach communities throughout Goa.
