Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has cautioned that speakers from outside the state should refrain from making remarks that could disturb communal harmony in Goa.
Addressing the ongoing controversy, Sawant stated that organisers of public events must take responsibility to ensure that such incidents do not occur. He emphasised the need for organisers to properly brief invited speakers in advance to avoid statements that may hurt sentiments or create divisions.
The Chief Minister also confirmed that an FIR has already been registered against Gautam Khattar in connection with the matter and assured that strict action will be taken as per the law.
Referring to the incident, Sawant remarked that Minister Mauvin Godinho could have intervened when the remarks began, but added that situations can arise where individuals may be unsure how to immediately respond or stop a speaker.
The statement comes amid growing reactions over alleged offensive remarks, with authorities reiterating the importance of maintaining peace and communal harmony in the state.
