A senior ACB officer said that the status report was sent to the CM’s office last week. He said the investigation was at a halt for want of a chartered account (CA) and pending copies of English translated Malayalam documents from Kerala.
The government recently approved a CA to Vigilance Department but the notification is still awaited. ACB in April, 2013 had charged Kavlekar with amassing wealth over Rs 5.5 crore while he served as GIDC chairman.
from 2005 to 12 and is alleged to have invested in land/properties in Kerala. The case was booked based on information received from the Joint Chief Electoral Officer in Goa.
ACB is yet to register an FIR against the MLA as the preliminary inquiry is in progress and is now being investigated by ACB PI Rahul Parab.
The ACB team has already collected vital evidence in the case including the annual income and all the assets including a posh house at Betul, which Kavlekar built when he was the GIDC chairman.
Kavlekar is also allegedly linked in the IDC plot scam case which is also being probed by ACB in which other Congressmen are linked.
