PANJIM: After a function held for distributing wheelchairs for Persons with Disabilities (PwD), Chief Minister Pramod Sawant took potshots at Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar for expressing COVID hesitancy.

Sawant was responding to comments that Chodankar had made about how he had not taken the COVID vaccine as he has his doubts. On this, Sawant insisted that if the State has to defeat COVID-19, vaccination is a must and the major solution to that.
“Don’t do politics with vaccination. This is a question of life and death of people. Why the vaccine hesitancy especially when the vaccine has been approved in the world? Keep aside the negative mindset and come forward to take the vaccination,” said Sawant, while responding to Chodankar’s comments on the government’s vaccination drives.
Earlier in the day, Sawant said the State government targets to vaccinate 25,000 people with COVID-19 jab to mark the Birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Sawant said this while speaking to the gathering for the function where free wheelchairs were distributed to PwDs. This function, held at Sanjay School Porvorim, was also part of the events aimed at commemorating PM’s birthday.
Sawant added that they had also provided PwD with various types of equipment and other facilities free of cost.
The CM further added that the State government will ensure that not a single PwD will be left without COVID-19 vaccine.
He announced that special camps for PwDs will be held in October.
He continued speaking about the overall vaccination drive and said they have been getting a huge response and that he is confident that the State will achieve its targets.
