MARGAO: The Goa Lokayukta while seeing no need for him to conduct a detailed investigation in the matter of misappropriation of Cuncolim Municipal Council funds, however, noted that pendency of criminal proceedings is not a bar for initiating appropriate departmental or disciplinary proceedings.
Based on the audit report, Green Goa Foundation Chairman Raison Almeida had complained to the Lokayukta about the matter. The Lokayukta saw no need for him to investigate the matter as a criminal case has already been filed in the matter.
However, taking note of the complaint that no disciplinary action has been initiated against the erring officials, the Lokayukta noted that there was no bar on initiating such proceedings just because a criminal case is filed.
