Collector favours new roads in Pale

North Goa Collector Mihir Vardhan on Friday visited the mining belt in Pale constituency and expressed the need of road widening and new roads for the public.
The mining tour was organised by Pale MLA Pratap Gawas. The Collector was accompanied by Bicholim Deputy Collector Narayan Gad, Mamlatdar Pramod Bhat, PWD Executive Engineer Audhut Bhosle, AE A B Rao, JE Shivaji Desai, Gaonkar and Gajanan Desai.
The Collector inspected the roads at Navelim and later heard the grievances of Surla residents. The officials also took stock of the situation of the mining road.
During the inspection, the Collector’s car was held up in traffic of the mining trucks for almost half an hour.
MLA Gawas and reporters explained to the Collector the condition of the people in the area. The MLA also told him how students from Surla and Pale get late due to mining trucks. The track started from Navelim and went to Maina, Surla, Bhamai, Kothambi and Pale.
The Collector after looking at the condition of the road claimed that the entire area should have cement roads as tar roads would prove useless.
Speaking to media persons, Collector Vardhan said they inspected the site and will chalk out an action plan to solve the problem.
MLA Gawas said they have proposed a special road from Tagor school to Kudnem, which is about 10 kms, especially for the public where mining trucks would not be allowed to ply.
“We have proposed a separate road for the mining and the public and also the Navelim- Usgao road need to be widened,” added Gawas.
