Miscreants broke into the Infant Jesus High school, Colva last night and decamped with cash and a mobile amounting to Rs 50,000. The miscreants effected entry into the school by breaking the lock of the main door.
Cash of Rs 43,000, which was stored in the cupboard was lifted away by the miscreants.
Acting Colva police station incharge, PI Jivba Dalvi along with PSI Satish Gawde rushed to the school after receiving information that thieves have burgled the school.
PI Dalvi inquired with the school headmistress Flora Valadares and other staff members on the theft and promised action.PSI Gawde said the culprits cut open the lock of the main office and lifted away the cash and mobile phone.
The Colva police requisitioned the services of a police dog and finger print experts to assist in the ongoing investigations.
PSI Gawde said the police dog led them to the main door before loosing the track of the miscreants. The finger print expert is believed to have got a finger print from the scene of offense.
The Colva police interrogated a number of migrant workers from a nearby construction site, but could not obtain any concrete lead in the theft.
The police are investigating the case.
