Residents of Comba in Margao have raised serious concerns over a long-pending sewage issue, warning that they may approach the courts if the matter remains unresolved.
Local resident Ketan Kurtarkar highlighted that the problem has persisted for over a decade despite repeated assurances from authorities. He pointed out that during the tenure of former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, substantial funds were sanctioned to the Sewerage and Infrastructural Development Corporation of Goa for the installation of a new pipeline network. However, he alleged that proper household connections have still not been provided.

According to residents, the situation worsens during the monsoon, especially in low-lying areas of Comba, where flooding becomes frequent. Overflowing sewage chambers and the entry of contaminated water into residential zones have posed significant health and sanitation challenges.
Kurtarkar further claimed that untreated sewage continues to flow into nearby nullahs, eventually reaching the Sal River, raising environmental concerns.
Locals say they are left to deal with persistent foul odour and unhygienic conditions, adding to their daily hardships. Frustrated by the lack of concrete action, residents have now warned of possible legal recourse if authorities fail to address the issue promptly.
