MARGAO: Collector South Anjali Sehrawat on Monday directed the Administrator of Communidades South to immediately take cognizance of any complaint of encroachment or illegal construction in communidade land and issue a show-cause notice to the violator.
She also asked the committee members of Cavorim Communidade that called on her this afternoon to lodge a complaint within 30 days before the Block Development Officer if the panchayat fails to act upon any complaint of illegal construction lodged with it.
The Cavorim Communidade members had called on the Collector to complaint about no action being taken against their complaints of illegal encroachments and construction in communidade land by the local panchayat.
The President of Cavorim Communidade Tiago da Silva had complained that the panchayat asks for the name and address of the person doing the illegal act and pointed out that the panchayat should be taking suo motto action as the construction is being done without obtaining the construction license from the panchayat.
As the communidade members complained that the panchayat delays taking action against the illegal construction, which results in the construction being completed by the time even an inspection is held, the Collector advised them to complain to the BDO if the panchayat does not take any action against their complaint even after three days.
