Congress opposes gathbandan with Vijai

MARGAO: The Fatorda Congress has claimed that the so-called Mahagathbandan or grand alliance by Vijai Sardesai is a part of his plan to take control of the Congress Party, which today is collapsing like a peck of cards.

Addressing the media, the Block committee said that since late 2012, when the BJP government sidelined the independent MLA from being inducted into the Cabinet, Sardesai has been dreaming of becoming the next CM of Goa.
“Lobbying for Reginald’s (Curorim MLA) Lok Sabha ticket was a part of this plan. Unfortunately, the Lok Sabha loss was the start of a series of setbacks. After losing all credibility, the Congress leadership sent Luisinho Faleiro as GPCC President. The third setback he faced was the formation of the Fatorda Block, a step that he had not expected nor anticipated, thus the plan of Mahagathbandan was initiated by him,” the block committee said.
“These MLAs have a vision for Goa that is best suited for a councillor or a panch member. Breaking coconuts, retarring roads, cutting trees and cleaning gutters have been their biggest achievements. Congress does not need such selfish people. Goa does not need them. Goa needs not just a political party but one that is organised and is working towards the interest of the people,” the block stated.
Talking of the changes in the Congress, the block said, “Never before has the Congress in Goa been as democratic and organised as it is today.”
The members claimed they are happy with the functioning of the GPCC and are working hard at organising the block and gearing up for the elections. “We have almost finalised the booth level committees and will be submitting the final list of candidate names to the GPCC this month. The Fatorda block will work at unifying the people of Fatorda to defeat the MLA as well as the BJP candidate in Fatorda,” they said.
