According to local sources, the absence of adequate streetlights at the junction compounded the problem, as the driver’s visibility was severely reduced. Eye-witnesses said the truck had swerved unexpectedly, alarming motorists behind it, before finally coming to a halt after minor impact damage.

While no injuries occurred and no other vehicles were directly involved, the container truck sustained damages estimated at around Rs 15,000. Authorities later confirmed that the driver escaped safely and did not require medical attention.

Residents have raised concerns about the poorly lit stretch at Naibag junction, pointing out that frequent night-time accidents are becoming common due to a lack of street lighting and inadequate road safety measures. They demanded that the authorities immediately repair faulty lamps and install additional lighting at dangerous curves along the route.

Police sources confirmed that the vehicle has been removed from the site to clear traffic congestion, and further inspection into the extent of mechanical failure will be undertaken.
