CURCHOREM: Welcoming the three-day-lockdown announced by government, the Quepem Senior Citizens Association President Evangelisto D’Costa said that at least ten days lockdown is needed due to the speed in which, COVID cases are rising in the State.

“If we analyze the current situation of COVID cases, at least 10 days lockdown is required by keeping only essential commodities establishments including medical facilities open to stop the further spreading of cases particularly in villages,” said Da Costa.
Meanwhile, the Curchorem Merchant Association, Jai Hanuman Association, Curchorem Urban Pvt. Shopkeepers Association and other business communities from Curchorem jointly decided to voluntarily keep their establishment close till July 24 in view of the COVID-19 situation.
“During the lockdown period, only medical stores will remain open throughout the day, and milk booths will be pen for a few hours,” said Merchant Association President Rocha Pereira. He further asked people to support their decision by staying at home.
