CURCHOREM: A woman found murdered at her house at Bebquegal-Curchorem near the old Prashant theatre, on Friday late evening. She was found dead with her throat slit.
Investigating officer Curchorem PI Ravindra Desai identified the victim as 55-year-old Succorina Fernandes, who was living in the house along with her only daughter after the death of her husband some years ago.
PI Desai said that the victim’s daughter, who is working in a private firm, found her mother’s body in a pool of blood on the floor when she returned home at around 9.30 pm on Friday. She then immediately intimated her mother’s sister from Amblai Panchwadi who later complained to the police.
Later, police conducted a panchanama of the murder spot and preserved the body at Goa Medical College, Bambolim for post mortem.
Police ruled out robbery as a motive for crime as they found cash of Rs 2.99 lakh in her house.
Police registered the case under Section 302 of IPC and investigating it from various angles.
