Curtorim Woman Loses ₹1 Lakh in Cyber-Fraud via Fake Parivahan APK Link

A Curtorim resident has fallen victim to a cyber-fraud after clicking on a fake Parivahan APK link, resulting in a financial loss of ₹1 lakh. According to the complaint, the victim’s husband, Errol Rodrigues, received the malicious link on September 20 and forwarded it to his wife. Upon clicking the file, an unknown individual allegedly accessed her phone and carried out two unauthorised bank transactions of ₹50,000 each from her Bank of Baroda and SBI accounts.

The funds were reportedly used to purchase Amazon Pay gift vouchers, leaving the victim with a total loss of ₹1 lakh.

The Canacona Police have registered a case, and the matter is under further investigation by PSI Ajit Velip. Authorities have warned citizens to exercise caution while handling links and files from unverified sources, especially those claiming to be from official government platforms.
