Cyclist killed, two succumb in mishaps

A cyclist from Pirni-Verna died in a hit and run case near Verna Petrol Pump on Saturday at about 10.30 pm.
According to Verna police, the incident occurred when Ramswaroop Singh, who was working as a watchman at IDC Verna, after finishing his duty, was proceeding on his cycle.

A cyclist from Pirni-Verna died in a hit and run case near Verna Petrol Pump on Saturday at about 10.30 pm.
According to Verna police, the incident occurred when Ramswaroop Singh, who was working as a watchman at IDC Verna, after finishing his duty, was proceeding on his cycle. An unknown vehicle knocked him down and fled from the site.
Singh was shifted GMC Hospital in a critical condition, where he was declared dead on admission.
Verna police has registered the offence under Sections 379 and 304 (a) against an unknown vehicle and is investigating the case.
In another incident, a 26-year-old man from Chicalim, who was seriously hurt in a road mishap at Queeny Nagar-Sancoale on Saturday, succumbed to injuries at GMC Hospital.
It may be recalled that motorcycle rider, Romeo Rocky Lobo, was seriously hurt when a truck (KA-28-A-4051) and a motorcycle (GA-02-Q-2411) collided with each other near Queeny Nagar.
According to Verna police, Lobo who was shifted to GMC Hospital in Bambolim in an unconscious state was declared dead on admission. After autopsy was conducted, police handed over the body to his family members.
According to sources, Lobo who was riding a motorcycle without wearing a helmet got panicked when the traffic police asked him stop and to escape fine, he tried to speed resulting into a collision with the truck.
Meanwhile, a 35-year-old man from Headland-Sada, Vasco, succumbed to head injuries in GMC Hospital on Sunday morning.
According to Mormugao police, one Arjun Ramchandra Korgaokar had gone to Sada market to purchase salt on Saturday, where he fell down due to dizziness and received head injuries.
Korgaokar was rushed to GMC Hospital, where he was undergoing treatment. However, he succumbed to injuries on Sunday at about at 6.45 am.
