PANJIM: The severe cyclonic storm (Ockhi), that brought heavy rains and killed several in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, will not impact Goa, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday.
However, IMD has warned fishermen not to venture into the sea for the next 48 hours, and asked those at sea to return back.
Goa IMD Director ML Sahu said that though the cyclone will pass through Goa on Monday, it will be far off the coast. “We are continuously monitoring the situation. As a precautionary warning, we have asked fishermen not to enter into the sea for next 48 hours. Those who are out in deep sea are advised to return as the cyclone will take place in deep sea,” Sahu said.
IMD predicts light to moderate rains with possible cloudy weather on Monday. “State will receive light rains at isolated places but there will not be any strong wind waves,” he clarified.
The night temperature has dropped to 24 Degree Celsius, while the day temperature is soaring with 34 degree Celsius.
