MARGAO: Both the cases against Francis Pereira, the man accused in desecration of religious monuments in the State that were to be heard in Margao on Friday were adjourned for different reasons and will now be heard in the first week of January.
Judicial Magistrate First Class Saee Anil Prabhudesai was on half day leave and hence the matter posted before her for order was adjourned to December 27, 2017. This case was fixed for orders following arguments before charge in the case of the desecration of Bom Jesus cross at Carvota in Loutolim on July 13, 2017.
The other matter was pertaining to the desecration of Alma Khuris at Cavorim Chandor on June 17, 2017 and the same was fixed for arguments before charge. However, as the Additional Public Prosecutor Coleman Rodrigues sought time to argue the case, it was adjourned to January 3, 2018.
“Given the fact that all cases so far against Francisco are discharged, I want to protect the charge in this case and hence sought time to argue the matter,” he said.
