PANJIM: The Dhanvarsha Group has urged the State government to revoke the suspension of the licence of The Mapusa Urban Co-operative Bank (MUCB) of Goa and to stay the ongoing liquidation process. The Group has already submitted a proposal to the Central government in this regard.
Briefing media in Panjim on Friday, Dhanvarsha Group Chairman Anshuman Joshi said that a proposed revival plan and package for The Mapusa Urban Co-operative Bank of Goa and expressed his interest in making it a small finance bank as per the RBI Norms. He further said, the Dhanvarsha group has proposed to infuse Rs 200 crore in the above mentioned Co-operative bank. “We are expressing our interest by way of a Firm proposal to infuse/invest sizable capital to the tune of Rs 200 crore in the share capital of the bank through our investment fund,” added Joshi.
Speaking further he said, a group of 150 shareholders has approached them for the banks revival. “Memorandum of Understanding will soon be filed in the interest of shareholders and depositors. We are working to revive 30 such banks nationwide and planning to declare Mapusa Urban Co-operative Bank banks as the parent branch in the interest of depositors and shareholders of Goa,” said Joshi.
In line with the process of liquidation, Mapusa Urban Co-operative Bank was asked to shut from January 2021.
