Tells activists they cannot expect help from goverment
PANJIM: Priol legislator Deepak Dhavlikar had snubbed them when they approached him for help in countering a mega project by a Gera Constructions, Arun Madgavkar of the Betqui-Candola Samvardhan Samiti who had approached him said.
“When we approached him he said that the builder is very powerful and that we can’t expect help from the government. He, however, told us that we are free to approach the courts,” Madgavkar told a press conference.
Madgavkar pointed that they explained how the project was given permission when it was clearly in a No Development Zone, it being a slope of a gradient more than 25% and further when it did not have an access road of six metres as was mandated, they told him that the contour maps were missing from the department files.
In two earlier judgements, the Bombay HC at Goa had asked that the Town and Country Planning (TCP)?department not give permissions without physically verifying whether there are access roads existing of a minimum of six metres.The Priol MLA was not available for comment despite repeated attempts to contact him.
