PWD Minister Digambar Kamat conducted a joint inspection of the Upasnagar area along with MLA Anton Vas and local residents following demands for a pedestrian underpass in the locality.
During the inspection, Kamat assured residents that the feasibility of constructing a motorable underpass beneath the flyover would be examined. He also suggested that a footbridge equipped with escalators could be considered, particularly to assist senior citizens, if an underpass is found to be unviable.
MLA Anton Vas stated that a major portion of the issue had been addressed during the joint inspection and expressed optimism about finding a suitable solution.
Social worker Achut Naik said a seven-member committee would be formed to further pursue the matter. The committee is expected to meet Minister Digambar Kamat again along with officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to discuss possible solutions for the area.
